El Salvador received US$729.28 million in family remittances in february 2025, according to data from the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR). The figure reflects the importance of these remittances for the country’s economy and the positive impact on thousands of households that depend on this income.

Compared to january 2025, when US$677.1 million came in, the monthly growth was 7.7%. Furthermore, when compared to february of last year, the increase is significant, demonstrating an upward trend in the flow of money sent by Salvadorans abroad.
The United States continues to be the main source of remittances, representing more than 90% of remittances. Canada is in second place with an increase of 5.1%, followed by Spain, which recorded a notable growth of 20.4%. Italy and Mexico also stood out, with increases of 19.3% and 12%, respectively.

The impact of these transfers is key to the salvadoran economy, as they represent close to 25% of the national GDP. This flow of money allows many families to cover basic needs, invest in education and improve their quality of life.
The steady growth of remittances is also a reflection of the efforts of salvadorans abroad, who continue to send resources to their loved ones. With this trend, it is expected that 2025 will close with a new record in remittance income, strengthening the financial stability of thousands of households in the country.
