The Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador signed a letter of understanding with the company BE1 Israel, with the goal of promoting exports of products made by salvadoran MSMEs.

This agreement seeks to open new trade routes for entrepreneurs and strengthen the country’s economy. This agreement establishes clear mechanisms for integrating MSMEs into export chains, allowing them to diversify both the destinations of their products and their categories.

In the first phase, the agreement will prioritize products such as women’s and men’s handbags, jewelry, and unique pieces with high artisanal value, highlighting the creativity and talent of local artisans.

Salvadoran MSMEs have demonstrated great export potential, with handicrafts leading the list with 34% of exports, followed by coffee with 28% and clothing with 22%. Handbags, footwear, and chocolate are also part of this export offering, which CONAMYPE shares through its online marketplace, showcasing a wide variety of high-quality products.

The Foreign Ministry’s role in this agreement is fundamental, as with the support of its extensive network of embassies, consulates, and trade offices, it will facilitate the identification of buyers in Israel. It will also be responsible for providing market intelligence and business contacts, in addition to offering diplomatic and logistical support for trade missions and product exhibitions, thus opening more doors for entrepreneurs.

Currently, MSMEs have the support of 38 trading houses distributed in strategic countries around the world. Among the countries that have opened their doors to salvadoran products are Honduras, France, the United States, Canada, China, and several European nations, reflecting the growth and expansion of salvadoran businesses globally.
