As the Holy Week season begins—one of the busiest travel periods in the country—the Las Chinamas Border Crossing has been awarded the “Family Friendly” seal, an initiative spearheaded by Gabriela de Bukele’s office.
This distinction, awarded on march 27, 2026, highlights the efforts made to ensure adequate, safe, and accessible spaces, specifically designed for the well-being of families passing through this important border crossing.
The certification recognizes conditions that promote a more comfortable and orderly experience for users, including children, seniors, and families. This is particularly important during Holy Week, when there is a significant increase in the flow of people entering and leaving the country, mainly due to its strategic connection with Guatemala.
One of the key factors in earning this recognition is the quality of service provided by immigration staff. Officers play a vital role by offering a personalized, efficient, and respectful service, ensuring that every traveler is treated with dignity. This work is carried out continuously, with service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Furthermore, the adaptation of facilities and the constant improvement of services are part of a comprehensive vision aimed at placing families at the center of the experience. In this way, the border functions not only as a transit point but also as an environment that promotes the safety, trust, and well-being of those who use it.
The “Family Friendly” seal represents a step forward in the modernization of the country’s border services, reinforcing the commitment to offer a more humane and accessible experience. Through such initiatives, El Salvador continues to strengthen its immigration infrastructure and position itself as a destination that prioritizes the care and well-being of families.
