The comparative price comparison website “ “Quién es Quién in prices” has become the central focus of the special operation being carried out by the Defensoría del Consumidor in response to the increased commercial activity surrounding Father’s Day. This tool is key for Salvadorans to compare prices and make informed purchasing decisions.
The digital system allows users to consult and compare prices of high-demand products during this season, such as televisions, speakers, furniture, clothing, and other items, with information verified by the agency, thus facilitating savings and transparency in commerce.
As part of the nationwide deployment, the Defensoría del Consumidor is conducting an inspection, monitoring, and assistance operation at various locations throughout the country, including shopping centers like El Paseo in the Escalón neighborhood of downtown San Salvador, where compliance with prices, promotions, warranties, and sales conditions is being monitored.

The president of the institution, Ricardo Salazar, explained that these actions are in response to a mandate from the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, and are intensified during periods of high economic activity to protect consumers.
In the nationwide review of inspections, approximately 250 inspections have been carried out at businesses such as restaurants, bakeries, clothing stores, shoe stores, appliance stores, and technology stores. Of these, about 75% are complying, while the remaining 25% have resulted in sanctions for violations such as lack of price information, absence of consumer service mechanisms, and expired products.
The institution also reported a survey on consumption habits for Father’s Day, which indicates that approximately 60% of salvadoran households plan to celebrate this holiday, the highest figure in the last four years.

Among the main forms of celebration are gatherings at home and visits to restaurants, while the most frequent gifts include clothing, shoes, accessories, and lotions.
Finally, the Defensoría del Consumidor continues to offer its services, including WhatsApp at 7844-1482 and verification points in shopping centers, to receive complaints and address irregularities during this shopping season.
