These prices have been published by the Banco Central de Reserva, through the National Statistics and Census Office, where it is stated that the highest prices were reached in september and october, when the country experienced an increase in fuel costs in addition to the blockades on Guatemala's highways, together with the Pilar storm that hit the country.
The month in which the basic food basket was found at the lowest price was in january, when prices in urban and rural areas were US$245.02 and US$185.26, respectively. According to statistics, each family of 3 members can spend around US$8 per day in the city and US$6 in the rural area of the country.
In terms of spending per person, it is estimated that each salvadoran spends US$1.30 per day in rural areas and US$2.30 per day in urban areas. Prices are currently unchanged despite the international crisis caused by the wars between Russia and Ukraine and Israel against rebel groups, which have limited the transit of fuels and raw materials in the world, because inflation in El Salvador remains at 2.0%.
