Following the agreement signed between the Government of El Salvador and Royal Caribbean, for the placement of merchant seamen in the different cruise ships of this company, a personnel selection process was initiated with applicants from all over the country.

This event took place within the framework of the Labor Mobility Program, promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to facilitate the population's access to employment opportunities abroad.

During this process, which took place from April 20 to 21, applicants participating in this call will apply for positions such as housekeeping, professional chefs, security, guest relations officers, cafeteria attendants, head stewards, waiters, and dishwashers, among others.

In this context, the head of the Department of Management of Labor Mobility Programs, Kathy Calderón, expressed that the program is aligned with the objectives of the Government of President Nayib Bukele, which seeks to facilitate employability opportunities for the salvadoran population; and provide options that allow salvadorans to move to other territories in a regular, safe, and orderly manner, and return to the country.

She also reiterated that the job opportunities managed through this State portfolio are free of charge, there are no intermediaries, and no commissions are required for consulting or filling out forms.

The representative of Royal Caribbean, Sandra Jarquín, highlighted the hard work and willingness of the salvadoran talent. "We are providing job opportunities through the Government of El Salvador and USAID. And this is the second opportunity that we are in the country, the first day went very well, those who were selected on that occasion have returned and that gives a good message because they work very well", said the representative of Royal Caribbean.

She also explained that the people who work with her company work on their cruises that travel around the world, to destinations such as Hawaii, Australia, China, the Caribbean, among others.

Meanwhile, the applicants showed their expectations of these job opportunities. Among them, Priscila Peña, from Antiguo Cuscatlán, who considers it a good opportunity to develop, learn about new places and cultures. "It is something that excites me a lot because what I aspire is to go, come back and study and finish my career”, she said.

Evelyn Fuentes, who came from San Miguel to participate in this call, showed similar expectations. "I hope God helps us to apply for this job. I think it is a very satisfactory opportunity that the Chancellery is giving because with it we can overcome and return to install an enterprise", she said.

As usual in this type of call, the attendees received an informative talk in which they were presented the details about this job offer, available under the parameters of the work visa program offered by the United States.
