The pension reform initiative that was expected to be presented this day, the President of the Republic Nayib Bukele, informed through his twitter account that it will take a couple of weeks more to present the proposal.

A few days ago, the president expressed in a national chain that less than one in four salvadorans are able to access a pension, that is why the reform will be presented to protect the retirement rights of more people and will have all the technical support to be sustainable over time.

In a press release sent by the Secretariat of Communications of the Presidency, it is indicated that currently salvadorans who have contributed and retire receive the equivalent of 30% or 45% of their last salary. This is intended to be improved.

The ARENA deputy, Mauricio Linares said that the amounts must be improved and they bet that with 65% or 75% of the salary people could manage to get out of most of the commitments and a better life condition would be achieved.

In addition, Congresswoman Claudia Ortiz, from Vamos, expressed that now that the country is short of funds, the Central Government wants to present this pension initiative. "It leaves a lot to think about, it leaves a lot of room to worry about what the proposal is going to consist of", she said.

The proposal aims that workers and retirees as a whole can access their pension without any problem or delay in their payments.
