Electoral propaganda period for the election of President and Vice President begins

Today, tuesday, october 3, begins the period for each political party to carry out electoral propaganda for the election of President and Vice President of the Republic, which ends on january 31, 2024.

This is based on article 81 of the Constitution and 172 and 175 of the Electoral Code. Each party will present its presidential candidates and government proposals, the term is from 3/10/2023 to 31/01/2024.

The President of the Tribunal Supremo Electoral (TSE), Dora Martínez, confirmed this monday that, to date, only one candidate has registered to the slate to participate in the 2024 presidential contest.

According to the electoral calendar, political parties have until october 26, 2023 to present the different presidential formulas.

TSE Magistrate, Noel Orellana explained in a radio interview that there are four months of campaigning for the different presidential formulas to make their government plan known to the population, in the case of the deputies there are two months (starting december 3, 2023) and for the Municipal Councils there is one month of campaigning.
