The Central Government continues to generate opportunities for the economic and tourism development of the country, accompanying the inauguration of new air routes at the Aeropuerto Internacional San Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdámez, which will connect more than 650,000 salvadorans abroad with the country.

Volaris El Salvador, the salvadoran flag carrier, inaugurated three new routes to the United States, two direct flights connecting San Salvador with Oakland, in the state of California and Houston, Texas, as well as a route from San Salvador to Miami, Florida, which will operate with a stopover in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. With the three new routes, El Salvador doubles its operations from San Salvador to the United States.

The start of these new air routes was inaugurated with the arrival of a direct flight from Houston, Texas, and was accompanied by the minister of Economy, María Luisa Hayem; the minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez; the Vice minister of Diaspora and Human Mobility, Cindy Portal; the executive director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Homero Morales; the general manager of CEPA, Juan Carlos Canales; and the director of Reputation and Corporate Development of Volaris, Ronny Rodríguez.

The minister of Economy emphasized that the development of the tourism sector is fundamental to continue with the transformation of the country. "El Salvador has a business climate that allows companies to establish, operate and grow in our country in an agile way", she said.

This year, El Salvador expects to receive more than 2.9 million visitors, equivalent to more than $2.9 billion in foreign exchange earnings. According to government authorities, the country has grown 66% in the reception of U.S. and Canadian tourists; therefore, the opening of these new routes allows for the continuity of this growth.

The minister of Tourism assured that the Government of President Bukele works together with the private sector and urged to pay attention to the tourism value chain. "This will not work if we do not have attention with warmth, efficiency and effectiveness, throughout the value chain, the crew that serves our beloved diaspora with a smile and solutions", she explained.

The Government of President Bukele is committed to continue generating confidence for multinational companies, through strategies in favor of the safety of Salvadorans and international tourists, who now see El Salvador as a place where they can do tourism, live and invest, which allows placing the country as an important destination in the region.
