The minister of Tourism, Morena Valdez, announced this morning that so far in 2023 the programmed figures for tourist arrivals have been exceeded. "As of june of this year we have surpassed all projections. We have already received around 1.6 million visitors", she said.

This amount of people who have visited the country, translates into $1,600 in foreign currency income, the minister assured; that is to say, $1,300 million of the goal to be met during the year 2023.

"We have received more than $1.6 billion in foreign exchange income, which means that the goal of receiving 2.9 million visitors, equivalent to more than $2.9 billion, is a goal that we are going to meet", said the minister of Tourism.

Another fact to highlight is that, only in 13 days of june, more than 100,000 visitors from the United States have already arrived, an unprecedented fact in recent years.

"Tourists come to El Salvador not only to take a tour; they come to live an experience with cultures and identities", she said.

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, with all this he has seen in El Salvador and with all the data; tourism would be representing 12.3% of the Gross Domestic Product at the end of the year, which shows how the tourism sector is growing.

Also, this area is a source of jobs on the rise, as statistics indicate that this year will generate about 300,000 jobs between direct and indirect.

"We had a meeting with the private sector; what they need is more people who can speak english and who can attend. The hotels are occupied between 80 and 90 % per day, not only on weekends, that is to say that they need more personnel and infrastructure", completed the official.
