
The Legislative Assembly of El Salvador has begun the process for electing the president, first magistrate, and second magistrate of the Corte de Cuentas de la República (CCR), who will assume their positions for the next institutional term and replace the current authorities, whose mandate ends on august 27, 2026.
With 58 votes in favor, the deputies approved opening the call for applications so that interested professionals can participate in the selection process for the new heads of the State’s oversight body, the institution responsible for auditing the management of public resources.
The president of the Legislative Assembly, Ernesto Castro, announced that all applicants who meet the established constitutional and legal requirements may participate. These applicants must submit their applications and advance through the various stages of the selection process.

The Political Commission will be responsible for carrying out the procedure, including interviewing the candidates, which will be conducted openly to guarantee transparency and allow for citizen oversight, both within and outside the country.
Those interested should submit their applications to the Official Correspondence Reception Office of the Legislative Assembly on business days, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The deadline for receiving applications is june 26.
According to the call for applications, candidates must attach their resume and documentation proving compliance with the requirements established in Article 198 of the Constitution of the Republic and the Internal Regulations of the Legislative Assembly.

Required documents include certificates issued by various state institutions, such as the Fiscalía General de la República, Procuraduría General de la República, Procuraduría para la Defensa de los Derechos Humanos, Tribunal Supremo Electoral, Tribunal de Ética Gubernamental, Policía Nacional Civil and Dirección General de Centros Penales.
Likewise, candidates must meet the constitutional requirements stipulating that those aspiring to be president or magistrates of the CCR must be salvadoran citizens by birth, over 30 years of age, of proven integrity and competence, in full exercise of their civic rights, and have exercised them for the three years prior to the election.
Furthermore, they must demonstrate suitability, technical capacity, and probity for the performance of the duties of the position.
