Asociación Fe y Alegría and World Vision sign an agreement in favor of adolescents and vulnerable youth in El Salvador

Written by Evelyn Alas

On december 8th, an agreement was signed in the framework of the implementation of the World Vision's program "Jóvenes Súper Pilas" and in coordination with Asociación Fe y Alegría. This agreement seeks to formalize the institutional relations between Asociación Fe y Alegría and World Vision, to incorporate young people belonging to the project Jóvenes Súper Pilas to the virtual or face-to-face courses promoted or given by Fe y Alegría.

The idea is to improve the technical skills of young people and strengthen their academic profile.

At the same time, it is desired to strengthen the collaborative work between both institutions in favor of adolescents and vulnerable youth of the department of La Libertad and its surroundings; thus contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of individuals and families participating in the municipality of Santa Tecla and surrounding municipalities.

Present at the event were the authorities of both entities, on behalf of World Vision was Iliana Verónica Orantes Alvarado, president of the Board of Directors and Alejandro Calderón Tobar, General Director of Asociación Fe y Alegría.

Dr. Orantes in her speech said: "Youth is the productive sector of El Salvador, we know that the work we do as an organization trains them in skills that allow them to join formal education, employability and entrepreneurship.

One of the mandates we have as World Vision is to work in partnership, as we are aware that investing resources in favor of adolescents and youth in our country is key and that this work cannot be done alone, that together in community we are stronger".

Alejandro Calderón, Director of Fe y Alegría said, "I think it is important to emphasize the importance of this alliance, first as institutions we make ourselves be seen as humble institutions, that know that we work together and that is the importance of making it formal through an agreement.

Also, to recognize the work done by each of the members of the teams since they are the visible link between the beneficiaries and the project who know firsthand the experiences and needs of our young people".

With this new commitment between both institutions, we want to create spaces that allow the exchange of experiences between Fe y Alegría's collaborators and World Vision's work methodologies and turn them into mentors for the young people of the Super Pilas project.

In addition, we want to systematize the information of the young people to be able to provide follow-up upon completion of the courses they are part of and subsequently provide support through employment managers and advice on entrepreneurship issues.
