TIGO El Salvador trains public and private sector teachers in "Maestr@s Conectad@s" program

Written by Evelyn Alas

TIGO El Salvador has launched the "Maestr@s Conectad@s" program to train all teachers and other members of the educational community in the country, in the use of digital education tools.

Given the emergency of Covid-19, the company has facilitated this program with the purpose that all educators participate in an open and free way among them: teachers, director, instructor, student teachers, parents and caregivers of the public or private sector of El Salvador.

To support the call, the company has signed an alliance with the Asociación de Colegios Privados de El Salvador (ACPES), which will collaborate by inviting its member and non-member schools. To register for the course, interested parties can visit the website https://mundoahyu.com/index.php/maestrosconectadoselsalvador/

"At TIGO, our goal of keeping our communities connected and with access to digital information is more relevant than ever. With this initiative we seek to encourage teachers and parents and provide them with practical tools and soft skills to adapt to the needs of virtual teaching", said Karla Rivas, Tigo's Corporate Responsibility manager.

The course aims to humanize technology, promote the use of technology in education, accompany the face-to-face, semi-face-to-face and virtual process of teachers, promote the creative and responsible use of the Internet, generate a collaborative network among participants and provide neuro-education tools for the virtual classroom.

"Anyone who is part of the educational community can register for this course, from ACPES we support this project from the beginning because we are sure that it will be of great support for teachers and parents who have faced the challenge of teaching and accompanying children and young people in the virtual environment, a reality different from face-to-face teaching. We invite the educational community to enroll in the course where we will learn soft skills for virtuality, how to capture the attention of students, how to manage conflicts in virtual classrooms, among other topics of interest", informed Javier Hernandez, President of the Asociación de Colegios Privados de El Salvador.

The course will be taught in 100 hours of virtual training for 5 weeks, in which, through live sessions, tutorials, videos and forums, modules are taught to understand the behavior of the brain in virtuality and emotional interaction in the classroom; Google Classroom, Google Forms, Google Site; skills for a Maestr@ Conectad@ to have full attention; digital tools such as Zoom, Google Meet, Youtube, Moodle and responsible digital interaction.

At the end of the course, participants will obtain a certification in digital tools training and humanization of technology validated by ACPES.

"At AHYU we are pleased to work with TIGO in its commitment to contribute to quality education in Latin American countries", said Arlei Villegas, AHYU's Director of Production.

"Now that educational work has become semi face-to-face or virtual, the virtual programs we have developed and our experience in facilitating teachers, families and students, respond to the needs of this new reality and hopefully reach all levels of education", she said.
