Mario Ernesto Méndez Alvarado to be the new Superintendent of the SSF

The Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF), informed that Mario Ernesto Méndez Alvarado will now be the new Superintendent who will be in charge of promoting the economic welfare of salvadorans.

Mario Alvarado has a degree in Public Accounting, graduated from the Universidad de El Salvador, with extensive experience in the area of prevention and combating tax evasion, money laundering, asset laundering and combating the financing of terrorism.

He has participated in investigations initiated ex officio by the DGII and at the request of the Fiscalía General de la Republica (FGR), working together with the Policía Nacional Civil (PNC), in addition, he has experience as a technical consultant to the FGR.

He has worked for 12 years as an auditor in the Subdirectorate of Medium Taxpayers of the General Directorate of Treasury and has been Deputy Director General of the General Dirección General de Impuestos Internos (DGII) of the Ministry of Finance.

With this new appointment the SSF will be able to continue working for the efficient and transparent operation of the financial system, watching over the interests of the Salvadoran population.
