AFPs register higher number of contributors between july and august 2021

The Superintendencia del Sistema Financiero (SSF), reported that the Administradoras de Fondos de Pensiones (AFPs), reported between july and august of this year, an increase of 3,570 contributors, indicating that more people have been able to be placed in the ranks of formal employment after a year of pandemic.

According to the social networks of the SSF, in the analysis of the figures of the previous two months, a year-on-year increase of 87,252 has been registered; with a positive trend after several jobs were affected in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Formal jobs are gradually recovering according to the AFP report, in the month of august 2021 the figure was 766,784 contributors, in the month of july 2021 the figure was 763,214 and in the month of July 2020 it was 679,532 contributors.

According to a report by the Fundación Nacional para el Desarrollo Económico (Funde), the rebound effect that El Salvador's economy has had has influenced the recovery of thousands of jobs lost during the pandemic.

In addition, the Instituto Salvadoreño del Seguro Social, a few days ago indicated that in the month of april of this year the number of formal jobs is 848,911, indicating a growth of 2.18 % compared to the data of a year ago. From april 2020 to april 2021, there were 18,116 new jobs in both the private and public sectors, the institution indicated.
