Pension reform to take place in october

Yesterday it was announced on national TV that in mid-october a list of reforms to the Ley del Sistema de Ahorro de Pensiones will be presented to the Legislative Assembly, so that salvadorans can enjoy a decent pension.

In a press release sent by the Secretariat of Communications of the Presidency, it is indicated that currently salvadorans who have contributed and retire receive the equivalent of 30% or 45% of their last salary. This is intended to be improved.

In addition, the President, Nayib Bukele, said that at least one out of four salvadorans, manage to access a pension, that is why the reform will be presented to protect the retirement rights of more people and will have all the technical support to be sustainable over time.

In the proposal the objective is that workers and retirees as a whole can access their pension without any problem or delay in their payments.

"Let's start thinking about the future with hope, with the certainty that we are going to build the country we want", urged President Bukele.

He emphasized that the vote abroad was approved, to benefit more than 3 million salvadorans.

In the coming days, he said, the Ley General de Recursos Hídricos will be approved, which will guarantee the non-privatization of water.

"Much remains to be done, the search for development and real independence is permanent, but we have been advancing in it much faster and with more momentum than we had done before", said the President.
