El Salvador registered US$710.2 million in exports as of march 2022

In a most recent report of the Banco Central de Reserva (BCR) indicated that in march it registered US$710.2 million in export revenues, reflecting an increase of US$136.1 compared to the same period last year. It even surpassed February, which was also very important.

From january to march 2022, exports have contributed US$1,888 million as cumulative, equivalent to a 17.7% increase compared to the same period of 2021.

Salvadoran businessmen have made an important effort for the economic recovery, while the Central Government accompanies with reducing the costs associated with these processes and providing an agile service in the different terminals.

Likewise, the institutions work together to promote productivity, which helps to meet the demand of customers in the different nations where they send the goods produced by salvadoran talent.

The BCR highlighted, that non-traditional goods such as those of the industry¬ are those that have shown the highest variation, specifically, those destined for other Central American countries. In this category, they contributed US$814 million as accumulated in march. In these three months they showed a growth of 28.8% in revenues and 10.5% in volume.

Since the country progressively resumed productive activities in the second half of 2020, exports have become an economic engine that has led the country to historic levels of growth.

Looking ahead to 2022, there are projects underway that will continue to boost foreign trade, such as the expansion of the cargo terminal at the El Salvador International Airport, the construction of the Pacific Airport, and the improvement of road connectivity throughout the country.
