Tag Airlines receives accreditation as a member of the International Air Transport Association

Today Tag Airlines formally received the membership accrediting it as a new member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

Peter Cerda, Vice President for the Americas of this international organization, formally handed over the membership to Marcela Toriello, president of TagAirlines, and Julio Gamero, CEO of the airline.

Official IATA membership represents an important recognition of the work carried out over six decades and, especially, of the company's modernization efforts over the last two years.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) is the leading global airline organization, which facilitates the transaction of 780 million airline tickets annually around the world, representing more than 270 billion dollars a year. It has more than 50 offices around the world and offers services in 170 countries.

The association was founded in 1945 and currently has 302 members, which together account for 83 percent of total air traffic.

IATA is the instrument for airline cooperation that promotes safety, confidence and economy in global air transport.

It should be noted that IATA also recently awarded TagAirlines the IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) Certification, which is an internationally known and accepted mechanism designed to evaluate the management of airline operational, safety and control systems.

TagAirlines is living a New Era with the re-launching of the brand, the strengthening of its air fleet with ATR 72 aircraft, considered the most modern and efficient for the operation of regional airlines, which will allow it to fly to more destinations in Central America and southern Mexico.

The New Era includes new alliances with commercial partners and new products, with a fare scheme that adapts to each type of traveler.

It also includes the renovation of the corporate image and new uniforms for the crew, designed by the firm Saúl E. Méndez, a fashion reference in Guatemala.

Tag Airlines is a 100% guatemalan company founded in 1961. It provides commercial and private aviation services in Central America and southern Mexico. It is the flag carrier of Guatemala and the Mayan World.

It currently operates 47 daily flights with a commercial fleet of 12 aircraft and connects five countries: Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Belize and Mexico.

In the case of Mexico, it flies from Guatemala to Cancun, Merida, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Tapachula and Oaxaca; it also operates the Cancun-Flores and Merida-Flores routes.

In 2022, TagAirlines carried more than 295,000 passengers (a growth of 169% compared to the volume of transfers reported the previous year).
