In view of the above, the head of the Ministerio de Economía (MINEC), said that the measures taken by the Executive have allowed the country's finances not only to be maintained, but to grow, which translates into a better quality of life for salvadoran families.
"The work we have done to mitigate inflation, to reduce the upward pressure on prices, has allowed our economy not only to go afloat, but to continue growing", said Hayem, who added that one of these measures has been the stabilization of gasoline prices during 2022.
The official pointed out that the Central Government maintained a fuel subsidy from april to december of last year, to help the economy of salvadorans during the rise in oil prices.
In addition, she explained that El Salvador has maintained one of the lowest inflation rates in Central America, 5.4%, thanks to the measures implemented.
"Those measures that were taken to stabilize gasoline prices, from april to december last year, were vital to maintain that dynamism in 2022 that allowed us to close the year with a positive growth of 2.6%", said Hayem.
The above shows part of the strategies that have been implemented for the benefit of the local economy; however, work has also been done to boost local production and the export of goods with higher added value.
Likewise, the technological sector has been encouraged to invest in the country and generate new sources of employment. The Central Government will continue creating and executing projects focused on guaranteeing a sustained growth of the economy, as it has been doing during these four years at the Executive.
