El Salvador participates in the 1st. Executive Commission of the Mesoamerica Project in Dominican Republic

The Embassy of El Salvador in the Dominican Republic participated in the 1st. Executive Commission of the Mesoamerica Project, a meeting in which they reviewed the strategic transformation process of this regional mechanism for this year and the coming years.

 

 

The meeting, which took place in the Dominican Republic, was attended by the Presidential Commissioners of the MP member countries, members of the MP's Inter-Institutional Technical Group (ITG) and special guests, who discussed the actions, initiatives and projects of the Mesoamerican work agenda.

Participants in this meeting discussed alliances with strategic partners and SICA bodies, as well as deepening the rapprochement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

They also referred to the strengthening of sectoral coordination and governance at the Mesoamerican level. They also highlighted the Plan Estratégico Institucional (PEI) 2024-2028; as well as the construction of a system of indicators for the effective measurement of the results framed in their work agenda.

This first Mesoamerican meeting of the 2024 Executive Commission was chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic as Pro Tempore Chair, under the representation of Ambassador Sandra Cadavid; on behalf of Mexico, as Permanent Chair of the MP, by the General Director of Project Execution Abroad of the Agencia Mexicana de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AMEXCID) and Deputy Presidential Commissioner, Tony Rojas.

Also present were all the Presidential Commissioners, ambassadors and representatives of the National Offices of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Colombia, accompanied by the Executive Director of the PM, Roberto Carlos Salazar.

In addition, members of the Inter-Institutional Technical Group participated: Development Bank for Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA).

The Mesoamerican Integration and Development Project is the Mesoamerican integration and development program that enhances complementarity and cooperation between Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, in order to expand and improve their capacities that will result in concrete benefits for our societies in terms of infrastructure, interconnectivity and social development.
