The Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) continues to advance in the modernization of its services with the goal of streamlining procedures for producers, exporters, and importers through the digitization of processes, new technological tools, and the strengthening of its infrastructure.
The MAG’s Vice Minister ad honorem, Óscar Domínguez, reported that one of the main advances is the implementation of the MAG’s Single Window, a platform that operates 24 hours a day and allows users to complete online procedures such as the issuance of CITES certificates, visas, prior import authorizations, seed certifications, and the registration of agricultural managers, reducing processing times and eliminating the need to wait in lines.

This initiative is complemented by e-Phyto electronic certificates, the MAGPAGOS system, the digital payment kiosk, and the Registro Único de Productores Agroalimentarios (RUPA), tools that aim to simplify user management and improve coordination among institutions.
The official also highlighted the strengthening of the MAG’s laboratory network, with greater diagnostic capacity, modernized infrastructure, and processes aligned with international standards to move toward ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, which will allow for more reliable results.

In addition, the institution has invested in data centers, real-time monitoring systems, and MIRA, an artificial intelligence-based platform that supports decision-making in the agricultural sector. As part of the next steps, the ministry plans to incorporate AI-powered citizen services and expand the digitization of import and export processes.
According to Domínguez, these actions seek to consolidate a more efficient, modern, and user-friendly MAG, strengthening the competitiveness of the agri-food sector and facilitating the country’s agricultural trade.
