The national AgroMercados strategy celebrates two years of providing high-quality food at low prices to the salvadoran population. To commemorate this anniversary, the 61 stores across the country welcomed families with music, clowns, raffles, prepared fruits, and a variety of snacks. This initiative has become a fundamental pillar for boosting national agricultural production and ensuring the supply of fresh food, thus protecting families’ finances.
“I’m happy to have an AgroMercado nearby; what I used to buy for $30, I now buy for approximately $15,” said Wendy Gutiérrez, a resident of San Marcos, in southern San Salvador. She highlighted the speed of shopping, the excellent service she received, and the constant restocking of the aisles with the best available products. Her testimony reflects the widespread satisfaction of the population with this government initiative.

The success of the 61 AgroMercados is evident in their high attendance, which has accumulated more than 24.5 million visits in the two years since they opened. Many citizens are repeat customers, as they fully trust the established business model, thanks to the quality and good prices that characterize the food offered.
The benefit to families is clear, generating savings of between 20% and 30% on their basic food budget, a result of eliminating intermediaries. This guarantees a direct and fair commercial exchange, which benefits both the producers and consumers.

“As salvadorans, this presidential project has been of great benefit; merchants and shoppers are satisfied to find quality and freshness at low cost”, said merchant Guadalupe Huezo, who also highlighted that the AgroMercados have contributed to boosting commerce and providing employment opportunities.

This positive impact is the result of a direct effort by the Government to deliver a real and tangible benefit to the salvadoran economy. With the continuation of this program, access to high-quality food at fair prices is guaranteed throughout the country.
