
The Government of El Salvador, through the Comisión Nacional de la Micro y Pequeña Empresa (CONAMYPE), held the second session of the diploma program “Local Economic Development: Strategic and Innovative”, aimed at representatives of local governments.

This training program aims to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) in El Salvador by promoting local economic development, business formalization, and economic integration within their territories.

The diploma program provides methodological tools, innovative approaches, and management guidelines that enable municipalities to formulate, implement, and evaluate Desarrollo Económico Local (DEL), initiatives, contributing to increased productivity, territorial competitiveness, and the generation of sustainable economic opportunities.

Its pedagogical approach focuses on strengthening the capacities of local governments so they can consolidate their position as strategic actors in development, driving economic growth in their territories through resource utilization, stakeholder engagement, and the implementation of innovative tools.

During this second day, participants strengthened their knowledge in key areas such as: bureaucratic procedures and business associations (SAS), formalization and modernization for DEL, regulations for small businesses with a territorial focus, the environment applied to local economic development, water sustainability, as well as value chains and impact chains.

With these types of initiatives, the Government of El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the capacities of local governments as key actors in promoting sustainable and inclusive economic development.
