The Government of El Salvador, through CONAMYPE, ISDEMU, ESCO, and the DCPOGG, with the support of the European Union and AECID, granted US$236,247.00 in seed capital to 109 enterprises led by women. This delivery was made within the framework of the Empowerment of Women in El Salvador project, whose objective is to promote women’s economic autonomy.
The beneficiary enterprises are located in different municipalities of the country, such as Colón, San Martín, Tonacatepeque, Suchitoto and San Miguel, among others. The economic activities financed cover sectors such as food and beverages, textiles, handicrafts, tourism, poultry farming and footwear, and others.
The seed capital is intended to cover key items for business development, such as the acquisition of raw materials, production equipment, improvements in production processes, design of advertising material, and preparation of workspaces. The beneficiaries will contribute a 3% counterpart contribution to guarantee the operation of their activities.
The participants also received entrepreneurial training through the Mujer Emprende and Mujer y Negocios programs, training 83 entrepreneurs and 26 businesswomen, respectively. These trainings were facilitated by CONAMYPE’s Women’s Entrepreneurship Incubation technical team.
The project seeks to strengthen national social and economic development policies by promoting the inclusion and empowerment of salvadoran women in the business sphere.
These actions reinforce the commitment of the Government of El Salvador and international organizations to support inclusive and sustainable economic growth led by women.
