Last december 12, at the Universidad Francisco Gavidia, the first graduation of 33 professionals, who successfully completed their diploma that certifies them as specialists in logistics, transportation, freight forwarding, required in any country in the world, took place.

El Salvador also became one of the 4 schools of the Federación Internacional de Asociaciones de Transitarios (FIATA) in the Americas

In this first edition of the FIATA Diploma for Certification in Logistics and International Transport, which was accredited by ASAC (Asociación Salvadoreña de Agencias de Carga y Transitarios), students took 15 modules in different areas of specialization of logistics that were taught for 9 months in cooperation with the Universidad Francisco Gavidia.

This diploma course seeks to specialize and standardize aspects of the logistics chain. For now, El Salvador is the fourth country where this course is offered, being preceded only by Chile, and an alliance between Mexico and Panama, which offer it together.

According to the president of ASAC, Mario Morán, "the certification places us at a higher level in terms of knowledge and technification, putting El Salvador among the best prepared countries to promote and develop with quality the logistics sector and in particular the freight forwarding and international transport of goods, because to date, no other certification or training available in the academy offers us this that today we culminate with great satisfaction", he said.

The FIATA certification is valid worldwide and allows the participant -once the studies are completed- to become an active agent in the field of Logistics, International Transport and Freight Forwarding at a global level, which undoubtedly has a great impact, and by making it efficient, allows a reduction in the total cost of goods, directly promotes exports and imports, as well as an increase in the exchange rate (national currency/foreign currency) that makes exports more competitive.

According to José Pérez Sánchez of the UFG, culminating with this first edition of the FIATA Certification places us as a reference at regional level in the training of International Transport and Logistics, since the subject matter addressed focused on two main aspects: first, updating the processes to the most recent and renewed conditions of international trade, logistics and international freight transport at regional and global level, and second, the geographical adequacy of the processes to local and regional laws and regulations, he described.

Thus, logistics is configured as an ecosystem of relevant actors for the economy because it is the method by which producers manage to meet the needs of consumers, supported by the different means of transportation of goods.

ASAC representatives agree that freight forwarders and logistics operators have continuously reinvented themselves after the pandemic, and the strategy aims to continue exploring more avenues for innovation, design of new services, training, digitization, and associativity.

The second edition of the FIATA Certification starts next february 6, 2024. For more information at the Centro de Formación y Certificación Internacional de la UFG of the UFG, telephone 2298-7698 or 2298-1463, WhatsApp 7222-0318; or at our office located at 2748 Progreso Street.
