The President of the Corporación de Exportadores de El Salvador (COEXPORT), Silvia Cuellar, highlighted the importance of strengthening trade ties between El Salvador and Peru during her participation in the seminar “Investment climate and trade opportunities between Peru and El Salvador”. The event, organized by the Embassy of Peru in El Salvador, brought together businessmen and leaders from both countries to explore new business opportunities and economic cooperation.
One of the most important announcements of the meeting was the decision of both nations to resume negotiations for the signing of a trade agreement. This step marks a significant opportunity to boost bilateral trade and promote a more dynamic economic exchange, taking advantage of the complementary strengths of both economies.
During the seminar, Silvia Cuellar stressed that the key to the success of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) lies in the complementarity of the economies involved. “From COEXPORT we reaffirm our commitment to support initiatives that promote the growth of salvadoran exports, the diversification of markets and the strengthening of our international relations”, said Cuellar.
The trade relationship between El Salvador and Peru has been characterized by the exchange of agricultural products, textiles and manufactured goods, but this agreement seeks to broaden the spectrum of opportunities. According to Cuellar, the agreement would allow more competitive access for salvadoran exporters in the Peruvian market, while opening new doors for Peruvian investment in key sectors of the country.
The event not only strengthened diplomatic ties between the two nations, but also set in motion a strategic agenda for economic cooperation. With the support of COEXPORT and the mutual commitment of the governments, the future of bilateral trade promises sustained growth and shared benefits for the economies of both countries.
