
On tuesday, El Salvador hosted the first Foro sobre Sostenibilidad y Responsabilidad Social en el Turismo El Salvador 2026,held under the theme “Innovation for Sustainability in Action”. The event brought together leaders, experts, and tourism companies from Latin America to exchange experiences and promote initiatives aimed at the sector’s development responsible.
The event is part of the strategies promoted by the government to strengthen tourism as a tool for sustainable development and economic growth, promoting projects that position the country internationally and benefit communities linked to this activity.
The president of the Instituto Salvadoreño de Turismo (ISTU), Eny Aguiñada, participated in the meeting, highlighting the importance of creating spaces for regional dialogue to address the challenges and opportunities of sustainable tourism.
During her remarks, she noted that the forum’s main objective is to promote actions that allow for the continued responsible development of tourism, ensuring the protection of natural resources and strengthening sustainable models in tourist destinations.

She also explained that ISTU has partnered with the Sustainable & Social Tourism Summit to promote this type of event focused on innovation and sustainability within the tourism industry.
Eny Aguiñada also stated that the institution remains committed to continuing to promote sustainable growth in state-managed national parks, considering the increase in visitors to these areas and the need to implement responsible management models.
The forum brings together specialists, authorities, and representatives from the tourism sector in various countries across the region to discuss issues related to environmental sustainability, tourism planning, and local economic development.

The agenda includes conferences, workshops, and roundtable discussions focused on topics such as tourism saturation, business sustainability, environmental conservation, culinary heritage, and financing for sustainable tourism projects.
Through these activities, participants aim to share strategies and experiences that contribute to the comprehensive development of tourist destinations in Latin America, promoting a balance between economic growth, environmental protection, and social well-being.
