Defensoría verifies egg prices and compliance with the liquefied gas subsidy in Santa Ana

Written by Evelyn Alas

The Defensoría del Consumidor, Ricardo Salazar, along with his team, went to the department of Santa Ana, to carry out an inspection of egg prices and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). In addition, they verify the supply of the product.

"It is an effort to avoid abuses against the population. Since last week to date we have carried out 225 inspections nationwide in different agents of the supply chain, on the issue of egg price verification", said Salazar.

Regarding the verifications on the correct collection of LPG, the official assured that "The Central Government maintains its subsidy policy, there has been no alteration to the payment mechanism. The call we make is to demand the subsidy, which allows the cylinder to be received at a value of US$3.09 for 25 pounds".

Since the implementation of the economic relief measures in march 2022, 107 cases have been transferred to the Sanctioning Court of the Defensoría del Consumidor and 47 of them have been sanctioned with fines exceeding US$148,000, said Salazar.

The official calls on the population to report any unjustified abrupt price increase to 910 or to the number 7844-1482, through his WhatsApp account.

The Central Government administration reiterates its commitment to the economy of the salvadoran population by making its teams available to verify and ensure compliance with provisions such as the subsidy for liquefied gas, among others.
