CASATIC’s WorkerTech and Agrisal’s Hub Crecenta, with the support of the European Union and BID Lab, joined forces to officially launch the 4th WorkerTech Silver 50+ Challenge, during the SNBX Innovation Summit 2025, held on march 27, 2025.

At this event, CASATIC and Agrisal formalized a strategic alliance, within the framework of Hub Crecenta’s efforts to boost the silver economy in El Salvador. The fourth challenge seeks to support companies that develop digital solutions to provide services and benefits to independent workers over 50 years old. These benefits include: social protections, financial inclusion, training, and community building.
In El Salvador, the population over 50 years old is growing. Currently, 1 out of every 8 people is over 60 years old and it is expected that by 2050 it will be 1 out of every 4 people. This population segment faces challenges such as lack of technological training and low access to financing to develop productive activities. Additionally, 48% of self-employed workers over the age of 50 do not have any type of insurance and more than half of them have variable income from one month to the next. These findings highlight both the needs and opportunities for the development of digital solutions that provide greater benefits to this silver community.

WORKERTECH solutions are digital applications that provide services and benefits to independent and informal workers, improving their productivity and social protection. These benefits include health and car insurance, training tools, financial services, access to credit and collective organization.
The WorkerTech El Salvador Project, co-financed by the European Union and IDB Lab, seeks to improve the quality of life of at least 10,000 self-employed workers, with at least 40% being women.
“People over 50 who work as riders, drivers, freelancers or home and care workers often face barriers to access opportunities in the digital environment”, comments Roland Despinoy, President of CasaTIC. “With this fourth challenge we want to drive technological solutions for this demographic segment that is growing in our country.”

Ana Isabel Hernández, Innovation and Business Development Manager at Agrisal, said that “Hub Crecenta, the first support center for 50+ entrepreneurs in El Salvador, works to create an ecosystem of silver institutions that share our vision. This strategic alliance with CASATIC is an example that the ecosystem can work collaboratively to provide opportunities to innovative silver entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs who have a solution for people over 50 years old”.
