According to the Business Confidence Climate report of the MSE Observatory of the Fundación Salvadoreña de Apoyo Integral (FUSAI), the MSE Confidence Index registered 105.4 points, a significant increase of 3.2 points over the previous quarter. This improvement is a positive sign for the economy of the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises.
Entrepreneurs report a favorable outlook, with growth in both hiring of personnel and purchase of inputs. Year-end expectations have generated an atmosphere of optimism in businesses, which augurs a positive year-end.
This increase in the index also reflects an increase in the year-end expectations of MSEs, which expect continued growth in their sales and production. Optimism is also linked to the improvement in the Business Expectation Index, which reached 66.3 points.
The Situation Indicator shows that 29.6% of entrepreneurs reported a favorable performance in their businesses during the third quarter. Compared to the previous quarter, the number of businessmen who considered their situation unfavorable decreased significantly to 15.6%.
This increase in business confidence is attributed to the conjunction of seasonal factors and a more favorable economic environment, which fuels growth expectations for the last quarter of the year. Business owners maintain an optimistic outlook for the near future.
In terms of confidence, the business index reached 38.7 points, improving by 7.2 points from the previous quarter. This increase underscores the enthusiasm of MSEs for a favorable year-end, consolidating the positive trend observed in 2022.
